Is your child often anxious, stuck in their head, having emotional outbursts, shutting down, shrinking in new rooms, or deciding they can't before they've even tried?

Fostering Confidence: A Self-Led Audio Course for Parents With Anxious Children 6-18

Listen to it on a drive, take it with you on a walk, play it while you're folding laundry. This course is easy to implement into your daily life.

Do you recognize your child in any of these statements?

“She's always been shy.”

“He's always been anxious.”

“She’s constantly having emotional outbursts and meltdowns.”

“He's often snappy, disrespectful, and arrogant.”

“She's constantly stuck in her head”.

“She won't say more than two words to me.”

“All he wants to do is gaming or he's constantly on his phone. He never wants to meet with his friends in real life.”

Parenting right now is one of the most challenging eras to navigate. With emerging technology and massive spikes in mental health challenges for children and teens, building skills like communication, connection, and confidence are more important than ever.

What if confidence is a skill your child builds, and anxiety is the thing blocking it?

What if I told you that the quiet submissive child and the loud dismissive child are two faces of the same issue: low confidence.

What if I told you that confidence is a learnable skill? It is not simply innate.

This audio course is the framework for understanding what confidence is, where it comes from, and your power as a parent in fostering it.

MEET YOUR GUIDE

Dr. Shyamala Kiru

Let me tell you a little bit about me first.

I'm Dr. Shyamala Kiru, and I've spent more than twenty years working with families.

My doctorate is in couple and family therapy, and for 20 years, I practised as a Registered Psychotherapist and Registered Couple and Family Therapist before retiring my licence to focus on teaching and building programs like this one.

In 2011 I founded Kiru Psychotherapy Clinic, a virtual and in-person practice serving families across Ontario, where I built and led a team of therapists doing this work every day.

I've served on the Board of the Ontario Association for Marriage and Family Therapy, appeared on CTV and CP24 for close to a decade, and wrote a book called The Emotionally Intelligent Woman.

I'm telling you all of that so you know the ground this course stands on. Here's the part that matters just as much.

I'm a mom. My daughter is in her teens now, and the work I do professionally is the same work I've done at home, in the ordinary and humbling moments no credential prepares you for.

I've sat with parents who were exhausted and doing everything right on paper while they watched their child struggle, and I've been that parent myself. A few years ago our family went through a separation and then divorce, and I was convinced the change would break my daughter. It didn't.

She moved through it and came out more confident and more herself than I had ever seen her. What I learned in that season, as a mother and not only as a clinician, runs through everything you're about to hear.

This course is where those two decades of clinical experience and lived experience meet.

Why does starting now vs. later matter so much?

This may land differently depending on what is happening with your child and within your family dynamic, but I can say that confidence is built through repetition over years, so the younger, softer version of the pattern is the easiest one to work with.

Every year you wait, the inner voice inside your child or teen's head gets more rehearsed, and the stakes climb higher.

Now is the perfect window to begin.

What will you walk away knowing how to do?

Confidence is a resilient skill, it is not a mood. Anxiety and confidence sit on the same scale. Build one and the other shrinks. So, when we talk in this course about Fostering Confidence, we are also talking about reducing anxiety. They are the same work approached from two different angles.

In addition to a reduction in anxiety, you also walk away with:

  • A method and strategy for communicating with your child, even when you feel like you've tried everything and they are not listening

  • A higher frustration tolerance, for yourself and your child

  • A stronger parent-child relationship that holds as the stakes rise

As a benefit, you grow as a parent too.

Has this worked for other parents like you?

Dr. Polina Mak, ND

"There is so much to learn from this course, not just about parenting, but about yourself. Even one meaningful takeaway can change your life."

Alia Rahawi

"I used to think confidence was something children either had or didn't. This program helped me realize it's something we build over time…this program didn't make me feel judged as a parent. It made me feel empowered."

Parveen K.

“The biggest shift for me was learning to focus less on outcomes and more on effort and growth. My kids became less afraid of making mistakes and more willing to try new things.”

Krista P.

"This program gives you the tools to improve your relationship with your children. Dr. Shyamala takes work that could take hours of individual therapy sessions and condenses it into an easy to follow, self-guided format."

Lucy R.

"I've come to realize that my greatest tool isn't having the right words, but knowing when not to say anything at all."

Is this the right fit for you and your child?

This is for you if any of this sounds like your home:

  • Your child holds back, goes quiet in new rooms, or decides they can't do something before they've even tried

  • Your child is often snapping at you and dismissive in a way that reads as attitude or arrogance, when underneath you suspect it might be anxiety

  • You've tried encouragement, tried backing off, tried more patience and more conversations, and you're still standing in the same place

  • Your child isn't in crisis, but you can see something forming, and you'd rather meet it now than wait for it to grow

  • You're open to looking at your own patterns too, not just your child's, because you know that's where the real change starts

  • You want something you'll actually finish, not another course that sits unopened

Whether your child is in early elementary or deep in the teen years, the way confidence is built and the way anxiety works against it hold true across the whole range. You know your child best, so you're the right person to decide whether what I'm describing fits where they are right now.

When this might not be the right moment.

If your child is avoiding school entirely, having panic attacks, talking about self-harm or talking about not wanting to be here, what they need is direct clinical support to address their safety. Please reach out to a professional. This work can sit alongside that kind of care, but it isn't a substitute for it.

FAQs

Still have questions? Explore the answers below or contact us for more information. We're happy to help you decide if this is a good fit.

How much time does this actually take?

Less than you're probably expecting. Most modules run under fifteen minutes, and the exercises that go with them are short. You can move through the whole course in a weekend if you want to, or take one module at a time over a few weeks. I built it this way on purpose, because I know what your days already look like.

What makes this the one I'll actually finish?

Everything here is audio, like an audiobook you listen to at your own pace. You can play it on a walk, in the car, or while you're making dinner, so you don't have to find a quiet evening to sit down in front of a screen. Nine short modules you can listen to anywhere are the ones that actually get finished.

Is this course for me, or for my child?

This one's for you. Your child doesn't need to listen to a single module, and they don't need to agree to anything for this to work. Some of the exercises you'll do together, and the real change starts with you. I've watched parents shift the whole feeling of their home without their child ever sitting in a session, because your child is responding to you every day, whether either of you realizes it.

What age is this designed for?

I designed this for parents of school-aged children, roughly six through the teen years. The way anxiety works against confidence, and the role you play in building it, holds true across that whole range. You know your child better than anyone, so you're the right person to decide whether what I'm describing fits where they are right now.

Can my partner or co-parent go through this with me?

Yes, and I'd encourage it. When both parents are working from the same understanding, the change at home is stronger and more consistent. You're welcome to listen together or separately, whatever works for your household.

What exactly do I get?

Nine audio modules, each under fifteen minutes, and a 19-page workbook that follows along with reflection prompts and the same worksheets I use with families. That includes the weekly family check-in, a feelings chart, the can control and cannot control worksheet, the share responsibility worksheet, a self-awareness questionnaire for you, and a feedback questionnaire your child fills out about how you're doing.

How do I get access once I enrol?

As soon as you enrol, you get instant access to the course hub, so you can start today. You'll also get an email with your login so you can come back anytime, on your phone or any device, and listen as many times as you like. The workbook is right there in the hub, ready to download. Can't find your email? Email us at: [email protected]

What if my child's struggles are bigger than what a course can address?

Then reaching out for more support is a sign you're paying attention, and it's the right move. This course gives you a strong foundation, and there are times when what a child is carrying needs direct clinical support alongside it. If your child is avoiding school entirely, having panic attacks, harming themselves, or talking about not wanting to be here, please don't wait. Speak to a professional. And if you'd like more support for yourself as a parent, that's exactly what parent coaching at my clinic, Kiru Psychotherapy, is designed for.

Do you offer refunds?

Because you get instant, full access to the entire course the moment you enrol, all sales are final. If you have questions before you buy, I'd rather you ask than wonder. Email us anytime at [email protected] and we'll help you decide if this is right for your family.
